This will be a session about being a first year teacher within Denton ISD and my implementation of curriculum and learning to provide effective AFL strategies. I will also discuss my personal grows and glows in learning what is effective and what isn't as the year has gone by and the effectiveness of active planning and collaboration between myself and the other social studies teachers. I will also discuss AFL strategies that I have used within the 6th grade classroom that have proven effective for these students in their first year of a separate social studies course. This session is to show a new teacher’s experience in learning AFL and how to implement it effectively and the challenges and struggles that are faced and how collaboration and support can create a motivated, passionate and effective first year teacher.
